Hi. I’m looking for customers to help demonstrate the HandiHone. For a short time (basically until I get the videos I’m looking for), I’m offering a free replacement diamond pad to customers who provide me with suitable videos demonstrating their use of the HandiHone.

The catch is, you have to do it all in one continuous shot, from you sharpening the blades, to assembling them back onto the clipper, to using the clipper to cut hair (either animal or human is fine, but we’re looking for some of each), and an up close shot of the cut hair. The main reason for this is so that the video proves that the blades you sharpened are the ones that are cutting the hair. You’ll probably need someone to hold the camera for you, because you won’t be able to get close up shots with a tripod mounted camera, and a good light will help to make everything visible, outdoors is good as well. The video also needs to be of a reasonably high resolution (no cell phone cameras etc) so you can actually see what’s going on.

Essentially though, for a few minutes work you can get yourself a $25 replacement disk.

If you’d like to take part, you can either email your completed video to me if your email provider allows files that big, or upload it to a video hosting website such as Youtube and make sure you let me know.

Keep in mind that if I decide to use your video, it will be put up on the website for the world to see.

Thanks!

Now on to the information.

The HandiHone Universal Sharpener provides three sharpening solutions in one convenient and affordable package for Barbers, Animal Groomers, and Hobbyists of all kinds. The HandiHone restores a factory edge to clipper and trimmer blades, scissors, shears, and all types of other sharp cutting tools (although I do not recommend attempting to sharpen knives, the diamond pad as well as the knife may be damaged). The HandiHone is quick and easy to use, regardless of the job.

I ask that you please read this entire page before you buy. The absolute biggest flaw with the HandiHone is the fact that you have to not only read, but understand and follow the instructions. If you aren’t able to take the time to read and understand this auction page, then in all honesty, the HandiHone is probably not for you. However, if you're willing to read this page, read the instructions, watch the video, and especially if you're willing to let me attempt to help you before you just leave negative feedback claiming it doesn’t work, then the HandiHone is probably for you. All HandiHones leave me in identical condition, made on the exact same machines, by the exact same person (me), and every return I've ever received I tested and they have all worked perfectly so far.

Just as an example, here's a quote from a message I received a month or so ago:

"I received your HandiHone today..read all of your instructions and watched the videos..I sharpened 3 7F blades and 3 10 blades and tested them all on 2 dogs and they were not sharp..as a matter of fact just as dull as when i put them in the sharpening bin. I have read your instructions 10 times and watched your videos as many..I followed the directions exactly. I am very disappointed"

Now this person claims they read the instructions 10 times, yet they also admitted they sharpened 6 sets of blades as once. Here is an exact quote of the first step in the instructions this person received in the box with their HandiHone, just like all my other customers have.

"1. If you have multiple sets of blades, be sure to practice sharpening with ONE set of blades before proceeding with the others. This is a very simple step, yet many people have an incredible amount of trouble following it."

These words should be fairly hard to ignore, yet a considerable amount of people manage to ignore them, and if you can't follow the first and possibly most simple step, then how can you follow the rest? This person of course had no problem punishing me for their mistake and promptly left me negative feedback before they contacted me. If you’re that type of person, please do not give me your business because I do not want it.

In reality, it's a very simple machine, but it's not very intuitive (meaning it's difficult to guess how it works just by looking at it, which is a big mistake many people make). That's why reading this page and reading the instructions (and watching the videos), is very important.

The HandiHone™ can NOT ruin your blades unless you do not follow the instructions and intentionally grind the tips off your blades. Nor will it will not ruin all your sets of blades. In fact, it wont ruin any of them if you read the instructions. The seemingly mentally-disturbed woman on youtube claims it ruined all their sets of blades (For some reason, almost everyone that writes a bad review/complaint about the HandiHone™ likes to say that it ruined multiple sets of blades, I dont know why because it proves theyre either lying or not very bright at all).

The first step of the instructions says, in bold, to practice on one set of blades before you attempt to sharpen all your sets. These people couldnt even follow the first step of the instructions. Anyone that says it ruined multiple sets of blades indisputably did not read the instructions, or, as much as I hate to say it, may be lying in an attempt to slander my product because they or someone they know is losing business to me. I have on more than one occasion received hatemail from some of the more expensive clipper sharpener manufacturers because theyre losing business to me. Clipper sharpeners, both the people and the excessively expensive sharpening machines, have been ripping off the consumer for hundreds to thousands of dollars each a year.

I'm an American, running an American company that consists of me. I'm not running a scam, I'm not ripping people off, I'm not stealing, and I'm not lying, I'm running a business selling a product that saves people money. The other clipper sharpener machine companies, and the "professional" clipper sharpeners themselves, are the ones ripping people off. Most of them charge $500-1500 for a machine that does exactly what the HandiHone™ does, and the people who sharpen clipper blades charge $5-10 to do something that takes them literally less than a minute. That's $300-600 an hour for them. Why do they charge so much? Well originally they justify it because YOU have to pay for THEIR clipper sharpening machine that they paid a thousand dollars for, but then after the machine is paid for they keep that ridiculous inflated price for sharpening your blades because they know they have you over a barrel. Most people don't know there is a cheap, practical solution to sharpening clipper blades, so the "professional" clipper sharpeners have a monopoly on the business and can force you to pay whatever they want because you have to have your blades sharpened. Seems to remind me of the gas companies.

I've had a 16 year old girl use a HandiHone™ on her clipper blades (with no prior sharpening knowledge, and no outside help or instruction), and she did a fine job her first try, because she read the instructions. So if you're as smart as a 16 year old girl, congratulations, you can use a HandiHone™!

About a year ago I began selling HandiHones™ on eBay. Before I stopped a few months ago (due to supply shortages), I had already sold over 400, and had received ZERO negative feedback, and over 100 positive from the HandiHones™. As you may have noticed, people have almost no problem complaining about the littlest thing these days, usually over-reacting and completely blowing things out of proportion/dramatizing it as much as possible to draw attention to themselves, but almost never tell others when they are content/happy (including never saying "Thank you" anymore). From that fact, though, we can assume that the 300 other HandiHones™ I sold were satisfied customers since no one complained (meaning no one left negative feedback). You can see for yourself here, can't argue with the facts.

eBay Feedback

That's 400 HandiHones™ and, since no one complained, 400 happy customers, as best I can tell. A handful of lying reviews shouldn't be able to negate the happy customers, don't you think? Let's not forget that I sell thousands of these to some big name retailers each year and get almost zero returns from them as well.

Of course, now that I've pointed this out and made it public knowledge, I'll bet that very soon some disgruntled clipper sharpener manufacturer/person who can't read/understand English will buy a HandiHone™ from me just so they can leave me negative feedback. I'm just waiting.

35,000+ have been sold over the last 10 years, and more are being sold each year. It's a reliable product that is hand built here in the USA by me, not by some machine in China that doesn't monitor quality. The plain and simple fact is that I sell 2000-3000 of these a year (mostly to retailers who resell them to the public via their catalogs and websites), and if they didn’t work, they would all get returned, my resellers would stop buying more HandiHones™ from me, and I would be broke. Plus I’d get a ton of negative feedback on Ebay.

I personally build every HandiHone™ I sell (no one else is involved), and I hand inspect every unit I send out the door, including measuring every disc to make sure its the correct shape (which is CNC machined to tolerances less than 1/1000th of an inch). I guarantee each sharpener that leaves my shop will be in 100% working order.

Having blades sent out to be sharpened can be inconvenient and expensive. For the price of a handful of professional sharpenings, you can do it yourself, eliminating the time, ongoing cost, and hassle. The universal sharpener handles all metal blades (not ceramic, though, as no such sharpener exists) from human and animal hair trimmers and clippers. Works on Wahl, Oster, Andis, Conair, Forfex, Remington, etc., as well as scissor blades. Its great for salons, barber shops, dog groomers, horse owners, or those who cut their own familys/friend's hair.

It can sharpen all metal trimmer/clipper blades 2 wide or smaller, which is the standard clipper size. The sharpening surface itself is only 2.5" in diameter. Yes, the sharpener is small, but it is all that is needed. You dont need a 12 wide wheel to sharpen a 2 wide blade, despite what others may think. This sharpener wont sharpen the wider shears such as used on sheep, or any extra wide blade (again, wider than 2 inches) that some standard clippers use.

It can accommodate all scissor blades (Although it does take a bit of smooth coordination to sharpen scissors, so if you have a $200 pair of scissors that you feel must look perfect, you may want to continue having them sharpened by a professional, or practice extensively on another pair first. I sharpen my own hair cutting scissors, though, as well as all my regular household and fabric scissors with no problem and havent had any complaints from any of the people who bought a HandiHone™ to sharpen high end scissors, including several people who have used the HandiHone™ to set up a sharpening business.

The HandiHone™ uses an electric motor to spin a diamond grit pad that sharpens the blade. It uses no honing/cutting oils, or even lapping compounds, so there's no mess.

Its made of impact-resistant plastic, so if you drop it on the floor, it wont break. It can also be screwed down to a wooden table/bench if you wish to have it permanently mounted.

Many people believe the HandiHone™ will ruin their blades, but actually it can only ruin them if you do not follow the instructions, which happens more often than youd believe, even though the instructions are very simple and explain just what, and what not, to do. See for yourself here: Instruction Page

A common misconception is that the diamond pad is flat, but in fact its not, it is dome shaped. The shape creates a very close, but still hollow ground, finish which is necessary for optimum cutting. It is supposed to leave the blades with a concave shape, not a flat even surface, despite what several of my disgruntled customers have thought. If the blades were ground perfectly flat, they would not cut. Ask your clipper's manufacturer, or any professional sharpener, and theyll tell you blades should be hollow ground. *Don't ask them what they think of the HandiHone™, though. They aren't likely to tell the truth about their competition, for obvious reasons.*

On average, depending on how well you maintain your blades (keeping them rust free, keeping them sharp and not allowing them to get excessively dull from prolonged use, etc.), the diamond pad will last about 100-150 sharpenings. To have a professional sharpen a set of blades 125 times it would cost around $1,250 (some more, some less. I know one guy who was paying $15 per sharpening)! Even if you're only paying $7 per sharpening, the HandiHone™ costs less than 1/100th that per sharpening. Hard to beat that.

I personally have both a Sunbeam clipper (low end clipper from Walmart) and an Oster 76 (high end clipper), and the HandiHone™ performs equally well on both clippers. Ive sharpened many other clippers in between, and there isnt one out there the HandiHone™ wont sharpen because all clippers are inherently the exact same and require the exact same sharpening process. A clipper blade is a clipper blade, it is 100% irrelevant whether its a cheap superstore brand blade or a $25 Oster blade, theyre all made of nearly the exact same metal, and all need to be sharpened in the exact same way. Theyre all steel and they all need to be hollow ground, every last one of them (unless theyre ceramic which cant be sharpened).
